TEAM DIETITIAN AT THE DIETOLOGIST

Certified Fertility & Pregnancy Dietitian & Nutritionist

PhD Candidate

Hey! I’m Kaylee Slater, An Accredited Practising Dietitian & Nutritionist And Team Dietitian at The Dietologist. Outside of my work at The Dietologist, I am also a researcher and PhD candidate investigating the impacts of pregnancy complications on the lifelong health of women.

I met Stef back in 2019 after I reached out on Instagram asking her for a coffee meeting to pick her brains about running a dietitian practice in the fertility & pregnancy nutrition world, because it was hard to find

At the time, I was completing my studies but keen to get some hands-on experience so I became one of the very first student dietitian interns for The Dietologist. This experience cemented my passion to help as many people and their growing families in the areas of reproductive health, pre-conception, pregnancy and post-partum nutrition. It was in 2020 that I started consulting online at The Dietologist.

During my time here, I have had the honour of helping so many individuals (just like you) to improve your health and nutritional status before, during and after pregnancy using evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle strategies that are practical and effective!

The science is pretty clear, a hopeful parent’s health is a critical factor when it comes to reducing the risk of chronic disease in the next generation, from diabetes to heart disease, eczema to asthma and so much more. As a certified fertility & pregnancy dietitian, I know I can make such an impact on the lives of families, and that is exactly what gets me out of bed each morning!

A lot of my research connects closely to my work at The Dietologist, including the publication of a journal article I wrote in 2020, which detailed that the vast majority (530 out of 534 pregnant women) are not meeting critical nutrient needs from diet alone! Nutrients like iodine, iron, calcium, fibre and zinc!

In addition, I am working towards my PhD studying the impacts and management of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (pre-eclampsia and gestational hypertension) and the long-term cardiovascular (heart) health of mothers. You can read more about my research work here.

So it is safe to say, when you work with me you’re getting the latest in scientific insights applied to your personal situation to improve your health to not only conceive but become a healthy parent too, after all, I really do value the science!

I am on a mission to teach people about the importance of their diet before, during and after pregnancy – I love following your journey from pre-conception until your little bundle of joy arrives and beyond!
