“I genuinely loved your supplement recommendations – there are a lot of supplements available nowadays and it can be quite overwhelming. I also loved your supplement comparison document as well. I also loved how you applied your clinical reasoning when indicating why you may increase doses and key considerations (MTHFR, Omega-3, selenium).”

Alysha

“I did the previous supplement training as a new grad and although I found it useful then, I can say that after this refresher (and a couple of years experience as a dietitian) I fell so much more confident in prescribing supplements to my clients. Hey, I’m Stefanie Valakas!

Expert Reproductive Health, Fertility & Pregnancy Dietitian & Nutritionist, Founder of The Dietologist and Clinical Mentorship Leader

About 7 years ago I took the leap to invest my weekend and money (the little that I had) into a training on fertility & pregnancy nutrition, and it was quite literally a turning point in my career and propelled me into quitting my job and creating The Dietologist.

What I wasn’t prepared for, was how much supplementation was going to be part of my consultations when I got started. And I had to learn more about it and QUICK to keep up with my client’s questions! I wanted to position myself as an expert in this space. Plus I wanted avoid the conflict of information my clients were experiencing getting supplementation advice from their doctor, naturopath, pharmacist and us too, leading to overwhelm and commonly, inaction.

We know a prenatal supplement is an essential, not a nice-to-have when trying to conceive & pregnant, but there’s a whole host of other considerations based on the evidence that may benefit your client and their unique medical history, weight, biochemistry, diet, preferences & dietary restrictions too.

I did it the hard way, I sat and read the labels of all the prenatal supplements, researched ingredients, read the articles, tried and tested products on myself and collating feedback from countless clients about what works and what doesn’t too.

Myself and my team have created over 500 custom supplementation plans, so safe to say, we know how to do it and do it well! And I’ve helped over 50 dietitians learn how to do it too. So you know, I’ve got your back!

This is why I have designed this LIVE workshop to help save you countless hours researching and position dietitians as the go-to resource for expert prenatal supplementation advice.

So…Any Questions? Here’s What Others Have Asked Before The Training

I'm not Australian, can I still access this service? +

You sure can! We offer consultations worldwide via Zoom. It’s as easy as selecting your time zone when you make a booking and then scheduling a time that we’re both available. We research what you can access that meets your requirements; we have consulted with clients on their prenatal supplement plans from the USA, Canada, Europe, Ireland, England, New Zealand and South American nations too!

How much does an Express Prenatal Supplement consultation cost? +

This service is an investment of $130 AUD for all practitioners at The Dietologist and includes the 30 minute consult and the custom supplement plan delivered to your emails within 48 hours with products, dosage and optimal timing and the micronutrient breakdown. This fee does not include the cost of products recommended.

What do I need to bring for my consult? +

We want you to get the most out of working with us, so please come prepared for your consultation. This will help things run smoothly so we can make the most of our time together! So, here are what we love for you to provide to us ahead of your initial consultation with us:

A copy of your blood work results from the last 6-12 months. Haven’t had any before then? Drop us an email, and we can help point you in the right direction!

A summary of your current supplements and medications (if any), including brand name, when you take them and how much of each you take.

Does this consultation include nutrition advice or meal ideas? +

No, this consultation is designed only to discuss and create a plan for your fertility and pregnancy supplementation plan. If you’re looking for a supplementation plan AND nutrition advice including meal and snack ideas tailored to you, book in for our 2 hour, Fertility Nutrition Intensive consultation, to ensure you get the advice you need!

Do you offer longer consultations? +

For this service, we allocate only 30 minutes to assess your prenatal supplement regime requirements; we cannot extend the consultation time if you wish to discuss any of your needs further as we are usually booked back-to-back with our clients. If you’re looking for a comprehensive nutrition assessment AND a bespoke supplementation plan, check out our Fertility Nutrition Intensive consult, where we can dive in deep on both with plenty of time for any of your questions to be answered!

How do you know what my body needs? +

Great question! We use a combination of key pieces of information to design our prenatal supplementation plans for you.

  • Your medical history – some medical conditions may mean you need more or less of certain prenatal nutrients.
  • Your age – the sad reality is that as we get older, our fertility does decline. There is research about specific nutrients and supplements we can utilise to help with egg and embryo quality associated with age-related quality decline.
  • Your fertility history and goals.
  • Your medications – some supplements and medications don’t mix, or may mean you need more of a certain nutrient in your plan!
  • Your diet – your dietary quality can impact our recommendations, as well as any dietary preferences and cultural needs – e.g. vegetarian, vegan, pescetarian, Halal, gluten-free, dairy-free, lactose-free or allergens.
  • Your body size – people in larger bodies require more of the key prenatal nutrients, so we need to assess whether there is an increased demand for critical nutrients like folate and vitamin D to support your reproductive health and fertility.
  • Your blood work – provides us insights regarding your nutritional status, alongside some general health parameters to help us customise your recommendations.
  • We take all these factors into account and your preferences and perspectives to provide a customised prenatal supplement plan recommendation for you!
Where can I buy the products you recommend? +

We offer guidance on where you can purchase the supplements we recommend. After all, you can have the best supplement plan, but if you can’t access it to take them, it’s not so great after all then, right? We aim to make this experience as smooth and seamless for you, so we take the headache out of sourcing where you find all your products!

Do I need to do blood tests before my appointment? +

We recommend providing as much information about your health as possible before your consultation so we can tailor our recommendations to your unique circumstances, and bloodwork can be particularly useful! Collate your pathology results from the last 6-12 months before your appointment and email them to us at hello@thedietologist.com.au.

Please email us after you are booked in and one of our practitioners will review your history and make suggestions for you to request from your doctor, please allow adequate time to see your doctor and arrange these tests so we have the results for the consultation, we require a *minimum* of 48 hours to reschedule your consult without a fee.

What technology do I need? +

You need a few pieces to help get connected to your dietitian at The Dietologist:

  • A laptop or computer with a webcam and microphone is preferred. A smartphone works too when you’re on the go!
  • A reliable Wi-Fi or Internet Connection.
  • A headset or earphones are preferable.
  • You don’t need to have Zoom installed on your phone or laptop; however, it can make for a smoother experience for you!
  • That’s it! Click the link in your appointment confirmation email a few minutes before your appointment begins.
  • We are here to help. If you have any issues with the above, please contact us via email at hello@thedietologist.com.au

Does the fee include the cost of the supplements themselves? +

No. The consultation fee covers the expertise and knowledge of your dietitian and the design of your own bespoke plan and recommendations, which are emailed to you after your session, including where to purchase your products. Due to the individual nature of each supplementation plan, our fee does NOT cover any of the costs of purchasing the supplements or the ongoing costs of re-purchasing your products.

Is this consultation eligible for private health insurance or Medicare rebate? +

This service is sadly not covered by private health insurance or Medicare; this is an out-of-pocket service, but, we promise it’s worthwhile!

Do you provide a list of blood tests that you recommend before the appointment? +

Yes! Once your appointment is confirmed you will receive a list of recommended labs to discuss with your doctor to complete to allow for us to customise your supplement plan accordingly. Make sure you account for the time to get an appointment with your doctor, pathology request form and the results to return before your appointment with us. Already done all the blood work before? No worries, upload the results when booking or send them via email to hello@thedietologist.com.au prior to your appointment.

What if I need to reschedule my appointment after booking? +

Life happens so we offer a flexible way to reschedule your appointment as long as you provide more than 48 hours notice. In your appointment confirmation email, simply hit “Change Appointment” and find a time that suits you in your dietitian’s calendar. You can watch this 60 second video showing you how to do this here. Need help? We’ve got you covered, email us at hello@thedietologist.com.au
