Frequently Asked Questions

What is your cancellation policy? +

We understand life can get busy or perhaps you are doing so well and no longer need our services (incredible!), we appreciate as much notice as you can provide us, so we can make this spot available to the next person waiting.

If you need to reschedule or cancel, you can click into your appointment confirmation email and select “Change/Cancel Appointment” and you can find another date/time that works for your schedule 24/7. Here is a quick video showing you how to do this. Alternatively, you can contact us via email at hello@thedietologist.com.au or via phone (02) 8000 0045 between Monday-Friday 8am-4pm.

At a minimum 48 hours notice is required to avoid fees and allows us the opportunity to fill the spot from our waitlist for another person who is waiting for assistance, just like you.

Cancellation or reschedule requests made within 24-48 hours of your scheduled consultation time may incur a 50% of your scheduled consultation fee charge.

Cancellation or reschedule requests made with 24 hours notice or less, including no-shows, will incur 100% of your scheduled consultation fee being charged.

Nobody likes cancellation fees, including us! Please make contact as soon as you know you won’t be able to attend so we can avoid unnecessary fees and ensure other clients waiting can be seen too.

I need to reschedule my upcoming appointment, how can I do this? +

Life happens so we offer a flexible way to reschedule your appointment as long as you provide more than 48 hours notice. In your appointment confirmation email, simply hit “Change Appointment” and find a time that suits you in your dietitian’s calendar. You can watch this 60 second video showing you how to do this here. Need help? We’ve got you covered, email us at hello@thedietologist.com.au.

What is the wait time for a consultation?+

Wait times for consultations vary throughout the year, check the Booking Page for updates or simply check our online calendars for the next available slots. On average wait times for a Fertility Nutrition Intensive are 2-5 weeks. Shorter wait times for Express Prenatal Supplement Consults and reviews for existing clients.

How do I book? +

It’s simple, head to our booking page.

1. Select your consultation & dietitian.

2. Select your timezone - very important!

3. Select the date & time for the consultation.

4. Complete the intake & consent form.

5. Pay for your consultation.

6. Receive your appointment confirmation email & welcome pack including pathology requests you can consider with your doctor.

Do I need a referral? +

No, a referral is not necessary to attend any appointment at The Dietologist. If you are claiming a Medicare rebate, you must have a referral from your GP before you attend your consultation.

Is my referral valid to see anyone at The Dietologist? +

Yes, if your doctor has referred to one dietitian at The Dietologist but wish to see another dietitian, you can! No need to book another appointment with your doctor to get it updated.

Do you offer Medicare rebates? +

Yes, we do offer Medicare rebates for those eligible and presenting with a Chronic Disease Management Plan or Team Care Arrangement Plan from your GP (general practitioner). This type of referral entitles you to claim a rebate for up to five appointments with an allied health professional each year. Speak to your GP to see if you’re eligible and ensure you provide your documentation to us before your first consultation, please note this is not a referral that can be initiated by a non-GP specialist.

Once your consult fees are paid in full, and you have attended your consultation, we can process the Medicare rebate on your behalf. The standard 2024-2025 rebate for dietitian appointments is about $58; if you’ve reached your Medicare safety net threshold you can receive up to 85% of your consult fee back as a rebate.

We also accept Eating Disorder Care Plans, which can entitle you to up to 20 dietitian appointments per year. You are also welcome to pay out of pocket if neither option is relevant to you.

If you have questions about rebates and referrals, please email us at hello@thedietologist.com.au.

Rebates apply to all consultation services except the Express Prenatal Supplement Consultation.

Do you offer Private Health Insurance rebates? +

For Australian clients only. Dietitians at The Dietologist are registered with all private health insurers in Australia. We recommend checking your policy and with your insurance provider about your inclusions and cover.

After you attend your consultation, we provide a digital receipt via email after you attend your consultation with us for you to claim back a rebate if you have private health with dietetics cover.

Rebates apply to all consultation services except the Express Prenatal Supplement Consultation.

Can I see a dietitian face-to-face? +

As much as we’d love to see you off-screen, we are a fully digital practice. Our clients love the flexible online services without the hassle of commuting or parking, especially with all the other appointments they have going on.

We get to deliver comprehensive care to couples and individuals on their reproductive health & fertility journeys from all over Australia, all you need is an Internet connection and a laptop, computer or phone!

I’m a health practitioner. Are you currently accepting new client referrals? +

We would love to support your clients with their reproductive health & fertility nutrition. We are currently accepting new referrals, please make out any referral letters to The Dietologist to enable us to recommend the right practitioner based on the client’s needs, practitioner skillset and availability.
